A breeding ground for the world
The cosmocafé straddles local and global. It is a small café,
but it has its eyes on the world. It is an authentic city café,
an innovative catering business, and a living work of art. The idea for
the cosmocafé came about during a conversation between Koen Vanmechelen,
Pascal Vossius and Ben Elen.
The cosmocafé wants to stimulate conversations. It brings the world to Sint-Truiden,
and Sint-Truiden to the world. A catering business that offers more than a cool beer
and a tender burger. A place where you can not only meet people, but actually
join in the conversation. Where words and ideas are formed.
The cosmocafé illustrates the need for diversity and multiculturalism
through the work of artist, Koen Vanmechelen. As a visitor, you literally become
a part of Koen Vanmechelen's art through the “art of food/food of art concept”.
The cross-pollination between individuals makes the world a better place.
Because enjoyable get-togethers in the microcosm of the cosmocafé make the cosmos a whole lot better.
The Belgian artist Koen Vanmechelen, one of the three founders of cosmocafé, is an internationally acclaimed conceptual artist. His work explores the importance of bio-cultural diversity, identity and community.
For each Euro you spend in the cosmocafé, part of it goes to the MOUTH Foundation.
This is a non-profit organisation that supports and implements Koen Vanmechelen's
various social and scientific projects.
